June, 2007: Brickford Y. Brown will be participating as the Moderator at Mealey's Benzene Litigation Conference in Santa Monica, California on June 5; Mr. Brown will conduct an in-house roundtable discussion entitled "Proactive Resolution of Cases."

May, 2007:  Dennis Kiker   will be speaking at the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys' Spring Meeting on May 10 on "Defending the Motion to Compel."

April, 2007:  Dennis Kiker will speak at the DRI E-Discovery Seminar on "After the Litigation Hold:  Acquiring Electronically Stored Information, Finding Responsive Documents and Producing Them."

March, 2007 - Brick BrownDewayne Lonas and Pam Sellers, along with legal assistant Vicki Douglas recently received a defense verdict on behalf of CNH America LLC and Old Dominion Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc. in a $10 million products liability action.  The lawsuit involved a former Virginia Power employee who claimed that he was pitched out of a loader backhoe by an improperly designed door and an improperly manufactured component part which resulted in a neck injury which left him totally disabled.  The complaint also asserted various warranty claims, all of which were dismissed on summary judgment prior to trial.  Following a four day trial, the jury deliberated briefly and then returned a verdict in favor of defendants on all remaining claims.

January 2007 - Congratulations to C. Dewayne Lonas and Christopher J. Mr. Wesser represents companies of all sizes in products liability, regulatory and risk management matters. His practice includes work in both federal and state trial and appellate courts, federal and state agencies, and before alternative dispute resolution boards and tribunals. In products liability, Mr. Wesser defends products such as tires, heavy and industrial equipment and commercial food processing equipment. His regulatory experience appearing before state and federal agencies, lobbying Congress on behalf of a government contractor, and preparing written comments on proposed rulemakings complements his product liability work as it gives him a unique perspective on the socio-political forces which shape the laws governing his clients' products.

Mr. Wesser is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Inc., Virginia Association of Counties and the American Chemical Society, Rubber Division.
